a2 Milk® is the only fresh milk from cows hand-picked to naturally produce only the A2 protein and none of the A1.
Most ordinary cows’ milk contains two types of beta-casein protein, known as A1 and A2 protein. The a2 Milk® brand is different because it comes from specially selected cows that naturally produce milk that does not contain the A1 protein.
Independent research shows that it is the A1 protein that you find in ordinary cows’ milk that may cause digestive discomfort in some people. For those people, switching to a2 Milk® may help them enjoy the nutritional goodness of natural cows’ milk again.
For milk to be a2 Milk® it must have absolutely no A1 protein.
We work with farmers to specially select cows that naturally produce milk with only the A2 protein. These cows are identified using a non-invasive test that analyses a sample hair from their tail and are then milked separately.
